CBE and Gander join forces to support roll out of reduced-to-clear solution
Retail innovator, CBE, praises the Gander app and its seamless integration with its in-store technology. CBE believes that the app’s real-time technology has allowed many retailers with the right infrastructure in place, to achieve significant cost savings whilst reducing food waste.
Established in 1980, CBE has grown to become one of the most innovative retail IT companies in the whole of Europe. The organisation designs, develops, supplies, and supports leading EPoS solutions for the retail, forecourt, and hospitality sectors.
CBE partnered with Gander, a world first mobile app which empowers consumers to reduce food waste and save money on their weekly food bill, whilst helping retailers to reduce wastage on food products.
Gander displays ‘reduced to clear’ food products in real-time and automatically removes sold items from the app, providing an instant and current feed of all in-store reductions. This presents the consumer with an easy solution to reducing food waste.
Speaking on the partnership with Gander, Gearóid Concannon, Managing Director at CBE says: “We have long supported a fully integrated reduce to clear solution for our supermarket, convenience, and forecourt customers as part of our core system. This, alongside the CBE Cloud infrastructure already in place, meant the groundwork already existed for a seamless integration with Gander.
“By creating a platform that allows retailers to reach a wider audience for their reduce to clear items without requiring extra effort, Gander has delivered a sustainable solution that not only addresses food waste but also considers the cost and pressure of in-store labour.”
Gearóid adds: “All of Gander’s early adopters have seen instant results and are extremely positive. If your store is already reducing short-dated stock to clear, Gander is a no-nonsense way of maximising your return and adding additional data insights alongside the comprehensive CBE reporting platform.”
CBE operates primarily throughout the UK and Ireland and now supports installations across 14 countries. The organisation currently employs over 200 highly skilled personnel, and with an annual Research & Development (R&D) investment in excess of £3.5m, it empowers its retail and hospitality partners to run their businesses more effectively.
The company’s bespoke software development capability provides reassurance for CBE’s partners that they will be first to market with all current and future market trends
Stacey Williams, Head of Customer Engagement and Business Development at Gander, comments, “It is a pleasure to partner with CBE as they incorporate the Gander app into their EPoS system.
“As one of the most innovative retail IT companies in Europe, CBE is a natural fit for our technology, which is a world first. The organisation’s vision of a fully integrated Reduce-to-clear section is very much in alignment with our own mission to reduce food waste and we look forward to helping realise it.”
“With the cost of retail operations rising at an alarming rate, businesses must work smarter. The use of technology to improve in-store efficiency and customer engagement should be paramount, while data should be informing every business decision.
“Managing price reductions can be time consuming and expensive and we hope that this collaboration will allow CBE to streamline the process, while gaining invaluable business insights via our Ganderlytics analytics platform.”
